Thanks to the innovative 'Opening Technique Training for Officers',
developed by ETCB, police units can save millions.
This groundbreaking training, led by instructors with over 20 years of practical experience in opening doors for the police, virtually eliminates the need for a battering ram or locksmith services. The Rotterdam officer who introduced this concept within the police force and advocated for training at ETCB even won the 2015 Good Idea Award, accompanied by a €1000 prize. This officer successfully completed the training at ETCB and subsequently launched the PSO project, demonstrating that progress is within reach.
As a result, the use of the traditional battering ram is expected to decrease, although not all officers may welcome this change enthusiastically. Nevertheless, considering the significant cost savings, it certainly raises important questions.
Over the years, instructors have made substantial improvements to the well-known PSO (Police Lock Support) standard. These improvements include the use of more advanced and smarter techniques, enabling faster and less damaging entry. Participants are also trained to identify and solve potential complications, with special attention to detecting various booby traps to ensure safety.
During the training, various tools are discussed and demonstrated, including the reversed door viewer, which allows viewing the interior of a room through the peephole. This contributes to an effective and safe performance of their duties. All efforts are focused on optimizing damage control and ensuring safety, while striving for the most efficient execution of tasks.
Note: This training is only provided with a minimum participation of 5 people.
